With all the talk of the impending 2008 iron ore price increase, industry observers might be forgiven for taking their eye off other steelmaking costs. Just to add to the misery, natural gas prices also jumped 20% in January [http://www.steelonthenet.com/commodity_prices.html], to reach record levels ...

I do not believe in steel price decline, at least in Europe in 2008.... I tseems that imports are tight and the production control remains good (inside Europe) Further to this India and China limit their exports and the demand ex U.S: and ex-construction sector seems to remain good...

I think it's a definite possibility that steel prices will drop during 2008. I know we've seen price increases through Q1, but on MetalMiner we think demand will soften and the price of steel either having to remain steady or lower as time passes this year. Just a thought.
